Step 1: Get Your Setup Files
The Palpable app generates a personalized setup file with everything your Pi needs to boot up and connect to your WiFi and account.
Open the Palpable app
Open the Palpable app and sign in to your account. If you don't have one yet, create one — it only takes a few seconds.
Add a new device
Go to the Devices tab and tap Add Device. The app walks you through the setup:
- Enter your WiFi network name — the network you want the Pi to connect to
- Enter your WiFi password
Important: The Pi Zero 2W only supports 2.4 GHz WiFi.
If your router has separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, pick the 2.4 GHz one. Not sure which is which? Look for the network name that does not end in "5G" or "5GHz". If you only see one network name, your router likely combines both — it should work, but if it doesn't, you may need to split them in your router settings.
Download the setup ZIP
The app generates a palpable-setup.zip file tailored to your account. Download it to your computer.
This file contains:
- Your WiFi credentials (so the Pi connects automatically)
- A one-time token that links this device to your account
- The Pi boot firmware and installer
No manual configuration needed. Everything is pre-filled.
After this step: You have palpable-setup.zip on your computer.
